  • Office managers
  • Insurance billing staff
  • Ophthalmologists (really!) or optometrists employed in an ophthalmology practice
  • Residents & Fellows in training -- Hey... you're going to need to know this stuff when you start practicing!

We are looking into obtaining AAPC continuing education credits.  More on that soon.

Webinar Format

Because of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, we're offering this year's coding and practice management workshops in an online format (via Zoom).  The presentation will be two hours in length and includes time for questions and answers.  Additional practice management webinars sponsored by KSEPS are scheduled for March and April... CLICK HERE for information about those sessions.

When you register, you'll be signing up for a log-in, not how many individuals are attending.  The good news is that multiple people can view the workshop on one computer... but you'll be able to use each Zoom sign-in just once.  So, if you plan to sign-in to the webinar from multiple computers (or multiple locations), you'll need to register for each one.

We are recording the session, so if you're not able to watch "live," you can still view it later.  The registration fee for the recording will be the same for the "live" event.

IF YOU HAVEN'T ATTENDED A ZOOM OR A WEBINAR . . .   We will be posting some additional information about what to expect and how to attend an online meeting.  Check back soon and that information appear here.

Registration

Please read the notes below and review the registration fees before starting the registration process.

Registration for the live session is now closed

Refund Policy -- Registrants who cancel at least 3 days before the date of the workshop will be entitled to a full refund less a $25 processing fee.  Sorry, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations less than 3 days in advance or for "no-shows."  However, if you find at the last minute that you are unable to attend the live session, we will be happy to change your registration to the recorded session.  Those individuals also will receive all of the handout materials provided by our speaker.

Important Information About the Registration Process

You will be purchasing a link to the ISEPS Spring Coding Seminar.  Members and their staff may register at the member price which is automatically applied according to your website log-in credentials.  Non-members will be charged the higher price.  Residents must register but pay no fee. Residency coordinators who are identified in our system may register their residents using the "guest" function in the form.

The Zoom webinar link is for use on one computer, and will be unique to that user.  If you will need multiple links for multiple locations, or for multiple computers, you would need to purchase additional links. To purchase these links click on the "guest" button you'll see in the online registration form.  For all links purchased (for the live or the recorded sessions) we need a separate email address where we will send the link.  Please note that each time the "on-demand" recording is viewed, the person accessing it will need to complete a short online form with their name, practice/institution and email address.

In order to register for multiple webinar log-ins, simply click on the "Guest" button on the registration form to add additional names/emails to your registration.

About Your Instructor...

A Special Note about Joy Newby

For many years, Joy Newby has been a fixture in the KSEPS family, and we know that many of you have been "Joy Heads" for a long time.  Thus we are particularly sorry to say that Joy has retired.  Her health this past year has not been good (not because of Covid), and last December she made the tough decision to put her coding book on the shelf.  We have continued to stay in touch with Joy... she is doing better now, and she sends her love to all of you.  The coding "help desk" will continue to be staffed by Connie Wood, so please feel free to utilize that service as you have in the past.  If you would like to pass your best wishes on to Joy, please send your message to me and I will forward to Joy.  My email address is:  [email protected]

In the meantime, we have secured the services of another excellent instructor who comes highly recommended by our colleagues at the New York and Florida state ophthalmology societies.

Jacqueline Thelian CPC, CPC-I, CHCA, CPMA

Jackie Thelian is a healthcare consultant, certified professional coder & auditor, and subject matter expert with more than 20 years of experience in medical coding and business management.  Her extensive experience includes physician practice management, as well as coding/billing compliance and reimbursement issues.  Jackie has taught in a variety of settings including academic medical centers, hospitals, private physician practices and seminars sponsored by numerous medical societies (notably the New York and Florida ophthalmology societies).  We feel confident you will find Jackie's presentation to be top-notch . . . interesting and informative.  CLICK HERE to read a more detailed bio.

Future Sessions

KSEPS has scheduled additional webinar sessions with Jackie Thelian which we hope will be of value to Illinois ophthalmology practices and ophthalmologists.  These are planned to be about 90 minutes in length (online) with plenty of time for questions and discussion.

  • Tuesday, March 16 -- Everything You Need to Know about Audits:  What do do if you get an audit notice, and how to avoid them in the first place.
    • This likely will be in the evening so physicians are more likely to be able to attend.
  • Tuesday, April 27 -- Revenue Cycle Management:  Not so boring when you realize this is how you get paid!
    • Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) refers to the process of identifying, collecting and managing the practice's revenue from payers based on the services provided. A successful RCM process is essential for a healthcare practice to maintain financial viability and continue to provide quality care for their patients.
    • This will be a late-morning session
