Joy Newby has developed a true following among ophthalmology office managers, insurance billing staff and physicians in a number of Midwestern states. She is president of Newby Consulting, Inc., a practice management consulting firm based in Indianapolis. A recognized expert in Medicare coding, she serves the state ophthalmology societies in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin, as well as numerous individual physician practices and medical centers.
Joy also serves as an ongoing Medicare and coding consultant for KSEPS and manages our coding help desk. Through this program, KSEPS members are able to get their coding questions answered by submitting a "help form." A personalized answer will be provided, usually within a few days.
With more than 38 years of experience, Pat Schmitter has a strong background in government payer regulations. She provides billing, coding and compliance consulting services to her clients. Pat also performs various audits, education on the principles of CPT and ICD coding, government regulations, and solving problems related to regulation and payers. She also coordinates and oversees enrollment for billing privilege and credentialing with managed care organizations and government entities.
Pat is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) accredited by the AAPC, Certified Instructor of the Professional medical Coding Curriculum (CPC-I), AAPC Approved ICD-10-CM Trainer and an approved AHIMA ICD-10-CM Instructor and AHIMA Ambassador.

Refund Policy -- Registrants who cancel at least by March 24 will be entitled to a full refund less a $25 processing fee. If the person registered cannot attend, you may substitute another individual from your office. (Please call us with substitutions before the workshop date if at all possible!) Sorry, we are unable to offer refunds for "no-shows" as we have already incurred costs for your attendance. Those individuals will receive all of the handout materials provided by Joy Newby.
About the Program
This is an intensive day-long conference that essentially is two seminars in one. Your instructors will provide a detailed review of coding issues for ophthalmology, including the new ICD-10 diagnostic coding system. Policies and procedures covered will be Kansas-specific. Best of all, lunch is on us!
Be sure to bring your CPT coding manual.
